Rally your class! This trip is a great way for children and adults to enjoy the best of New England summers. A gorgeous river for swimming, bike trails, open fields for games, and a huge bonfire. We rent the whole campground so it’s easy for children and families to mix, mingle and roam! Indian Hollow, Chesterfield, MA

Every year the entire Indian Hollow Campground is rented by Hartsbrook Families for Hartsbrook Families for four nights. This event is completely run and organized by parents and we welcome all Hartsbrook families, past and present. In a beautiful setting of trees and open playing fields, we pitch our tents, play frisbee and capture the flag, swim in the river, bicycle to other swimming holes, and build bike jumps in the woods. Some of us cook at our own campsites, while others share communal meals.

There are bathrooms with sinks, showers and flush toilets, and potable water. Picnic tables and grills are throughout the campground, and firewood is just up the street.

Someone always seems to be playing a guitar around a campfire in the evenings. On our last night together there is a huge bonfire, and the night is spent singing songs and roasting s’mores. Stay up late singing, or drift off to sleep as the serenade quietly reaches your tent. That night the high-schoolers often sleep out together in the field in the open air.

We pool our funds to be able to rent the facility again the next year. Suggested fees last year were $20 per family/carload for each night. For those families coming for the day only, the suggested fee is $5. If the cost is prohibitive, pay whatever you can. Come visit for the day if you are unable to schedule time away, or just want to check out what it is all about. Come for as little as one day, or as much as all three nights. Come on your own —you are sure to see people you know— or bring a whole group with you.

Note: Do not use Google or state Web sites for directions to the Campground. Instead put 200 Indian Hollow Road, Chesterfield, MA 01012 into your GPS. Or follow Route 9 west through Williamsburg. Left on Route 143. In Chesterfield, left on South Street. Third right (2.4 miles) onto Indian Hollow Road. Follow down until the very end. Driving time is ½ hour from Northampton.

Thursday August 31, 2023 at 2:00 pm to Sunday September 3, 2023 at 11:00 am. We need to be out promptly at 11 am. If you want to spend the day at the river, you can move your car and gear to the outer parking lot outside the gate and walk back in.
