Indian Hollow Camping Trip

Every year the entire Indian Hollow Campground is rented by Hartsbrook Families for Hartsbrook Families for three or four nights. This is not a school-sponsored event, it is completely run and organized by parents. All Hartsbrook families, past and present are welcome. In a beautiful setting of trees and open playing fields, families pitch tents, play frisbee and capture the flag, swim in the river, bicycle to other swimming holes, and build bike jumps in the woods. Some cook at their own campsites, while others share meals.

There are bathrooms with sinks, showers and flush toilets, and potable water. Picnic tables and grills are throughout the campground, and firewood is often for sale just up the street. There is one public pay phone on site.

Someone always seems to be playing a guitar around a campfire in the evenings. On the last night together a huge bonfire is made, and families spend the night singing songs and roasting s’mores. Stay up late singing, or drift off to sleep as the serenade quietly reaches your tent. That night in the past, the high-schoolers have slept out together in the field in the open air.

Families pool funds to be able to rent the facility again the next year. Suggested fees are $25 per family/carload for each night. For those families coming for the day only, the suggested fee is $5-10. If the cost is prohibitive, pay what you can. Visit for the day if you are unable to schedule time away, or just want to check out what it is all about. Come for as little as one day, or as much as all three nights. Come on your own—you are sure to see people you know—or bring a whole group with you!
