Every parent wants to do right by their children. But today, many parents are overwhelmed and confused about what this looks like when it comes to screen technologies. Uncertain and pressured, many families are not clear about the what, when, where and how much to allow into their child’s life. It can feel like every day is a guilty battle that requires reinventing how to approach this daunting issue. Stepping beyond expert opinions and “ten-easy-step solutions,” this gathering offers you common sense solutions explored through the lens of your own capacity to be present as well as through the personal lens of your own values. Together we will work on navigating the technologies in ways that best serve the real needs of your family and what it is that you cherish most. _________________________________________________________________________ Susan McNamara, M.A., CHHC is a Certified Holistic Health Counselor, is trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and holds a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. Susan is an adjunct professor at Westfield State University where she explores with her students the impact technology is having on their health and well-being as part of an overall curriculum on health and stress-reduction. For over 25 years, Susan has been contemplating, researching, and exploring deep and unasked questions around technology and its impact on us and our families. Her approach is rooted in helping people create lives based on what is most important. (Parents should bring pen and paper to workshop. Also, given the experiential nature of this gathering, an uninterrupted space, with nothing else going on, would be best to help to make use of our time together.)
