Fall Festival & Clothing Swap

Each year, around the time of the autumnal equinox, students at the Hartsbrook School joyfully work together to harvest the bounty of the spring and summer and to sow cover crops that will protect and nourish the soil through the winter. We learn, by being in such close relationship with the earth, that things constantly transform into something new.They become ripe, turn to seed ripe, and can be saved to be sown once more. Our tradition has included the creation of a beautiful and meaningful centerpiece from natural items gathered and worked during the course of the day. This serves as a focal point for the festival’s closing ceremony and remains as a memory for a  short while. 


Parents and caretakers are invited* to join for song and dance at opening and closing ceremonies, which includes a clothing swap facilitated by the Family Association. 

*Specific information about times when parents/caregivers may join in celebration throughout the day will be announced closer to the event.
